on Friday, March 30, 2007

It's superb PDA and also notebook, together all in one!

Imagine having your own mini notebook and smartphone all in one.Well Dopod has come up with such a device that caters to both the need to makes phone calls and later surf the Internet.Weighing at 375g,this groundbreaking device comes with GPS,5 inch VGA screen,3 megapixel for quality snap,Windows Media Player 10 Mobile,WiFi,FM tuner and TV out.It runs on Windows Mobile 5(but the Windows Mobile 6 was came out at the same time)Hopefully we can upgrade it free from Dopod :).

It also powered by a 624 MhZ processor and it comes with 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM.My opinion is this gadget also called UMPC( I already posted about UMPC before). As it's, it may look like a notebook but it will perform like a PDA.For connectivity it comes with HSDPA,3G,EDGE and also Bluethooth. To make a call I recommended to you use a Bluetooth headset. How about price?.If you think this gadget really useful for you better you get one,but with a small budget, think again,it costs USD 1000 above.Opp,before I forget,Dopod U1000 still fit in your pocket if you get it one. This is my short review about one of Dopod family gadget.I hope you enjoy and get the benefit from it.

SolarMio The Cool Gadget For Outdoor Person

on Sunday, March 25, 2007

A useful gadget should you have lots of sun and no power point in the vicinity.

Hi meet again, are you like traveling? or you like outdoor activity? Of course you will bring your communication or entertainment gadget like iPod or mobile phone.Imagine being on a jungle hike with no electrical points anywhere and it so happens that you mobile phone battery week.No electrical point means no phone charging, which means you got to conserve that phone's battery life like there is no tomorrow.

Apparently, you don't really need to anymore with this nifty gadget managed to get our hands on, the Solar Mio. Essentially, the Solar Mio is small set of solar panels that you can bring around with you to charge your mobile devices be they phones,MP3 players or PDAs.

Solar energy has been a viable alternative for energy and we all were quite impressed that the idea to harness it for gadgets came about. But then again you might ask me " You mean we have to leave our phones connected to the Solar Mio in the sun just to charge it?".Well actually no and that is the beauty of the Solar Mio.It comes with its own battery pack which is the key to the whole device.

What the Solar Mio does is actually charge the battery pack, which is by the way easily removed from the main unit. You can either connect your phone to the battery pack while say you are driving and it will charge battery pack with you as an emergency charge

You might be wondering as well how the Solar Mio is able to work, with so many different types of phones, considering that each phone has a different power jack.Well the Solar Mio does come with 10 different charger adapters that support phones like Sony Ericsson,Nokia,Motorola,Samsung and even Sagem. As the Motorola chargers use a mini USB port, this means that any devices that charges from a mini USB port is also covered. And if you devices uses its own proprietary jack,as long as it can charge via USB,this wouldn't be problem as the Solar Mio has a USB port for such instances.

Overall, the Solar Mio is an interesting device.I think the price below USD 300.But what you do get with that price is Solar Mio itself,10 different charger jacks, a car kit as an alternative source for charging, and a normal power adapter to prime the battery ( like when you get a new mobile phone ).If you are an outdoor person and a power point is not anywhere in sight, you will find that the Solar Mio will come in pretty handy:). Ok bye.I wish all of you will get the benefit from me..

Why DSLRs Camera Better Than Compact Camera

on Saturday, March 24, 2007

Now days the compact cameras is most popular camera. Why? The answers is compact camera actually cheap price than another camera like DSLR camera. So DSLR are more expensive than compact digital camera, but they also have many features better than compact camera. In short reason I bring to you,why DSLR camera better to try.

1.Better Image Quality
With the large image sensors on DSLRs actually more sensitive to light and less prone to noise, while more powerful image processors, create sharper picture with finer colours. It was used by professional photographer. For simple example your wedding picture. It captured by DSLR camera for better and beautiful picture. Are you agree with me? I hope so

2 More Speed
Power on time, shutter lag and continue shooting are much more faster compared to compact cameras.

3.More Option
This camera allow completely manual control of setting such as shutter speed, aperture, sensitivity and white balance and also offer extensive menu options.

4.Upgradeable
Don't like the kit lens? With DSLRs you can just buy another lens to replace it and you can also add flash units, special filters,etc..

5.Better Ergonomics
Although DSLRs are heavier and large than compacts, their sculpted grips and better weight distribution make them more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time

6. Manual zoom and Focus
The zoom ring on the interchangeable lenses make it easy to precisely select a focal length while the focus ring open up more options for experimenting with areas in focus

7.What You See Is What You Get!(WYSIWYG)
The view through the optical viewfinder is very close to the final picture,so it is easier to adjust composition, expose and focus before you snap.

8 RAW format
Beside the usual JPEG format,DSLRs also support RAW format, that mean the original image without any in camera processing for the highest quality

9.Better Auto focus
The smarter auto focus system function more accurately and faster than compact camera,so you won't miss a short from slow focusing

10.Better Flash
You can use the pop up flash to illuminate large area.If that is not enough a separate flash unit will provide more even illumination

So what is your choice ?Is up to you.DSLRs or compact camera, both of it have a advantages, but I refer to DSLRs even the compact camera is more popular. For a small budget better to buy the compact, but if you love the really good quality picture for your own, better to get DSLR one for you:).Ok for further information please read the full review and information about DSLRs from Wikipedia

The Ultra Mobile PC For 2007

on Saturday, March 17, 2007

The Ultra Mobile PC ( UMPC ) is primed to make a big splash in 2007.With a 7 in, 800 x 480 minimum resolution screen and running ( initially, at least ) Windows Table PC Edition,UMPCs can run any full blown Windows software although it may require interface tweaks to accommodate the small form factor. The addition of Wi Fi and any touchscreens make them ideal for anyone who rates mobility over performance.Early incarnations have yet to set the world alight, but research from In - Stat suggests UMPC shipments could hit 7.8 million units by 2011.With Intel promising to increase investment in the Steeley low power processor that could push battery life to seven hours running Windows Vista, the idea of a fully functional PC that slips easily into your man bag should gain appeal over the year. The early products to market, such as the Samsung Q1( see the picture) proved, however that, that long battery life alone won't make the UMPC an instant success.Easier input controls will make UMPC much more attractive to the computing professional

The Widsets For Mobile Internet

on Tuesday, March 13, 2007

Mobile internet is still crying out for a killer application and, almost a decade after WAP, it might finally have arrived. Nokia's WidSets is combined Java application and service that puts widgets, or mini applications, on phone handsets. Mini applications and mobiles are match made in heaven - limited in scope but designed specifically for one purpose. The widgets rely on web based services to supply information such as stock price alerts,RSS style headline readers and weather forecast. News fiends could select a series of widgets ( BBC and Technorati search wizard, say ) from their PC and use a mobile phone to view the information that's delivered.WidSets is the first such service to arrive, but mobile operators and software developers such as Opera are also working on variations of the idea.Could these little widgets be the tonic that removes the frustration of mobile internet?

High Definition Monitors! Are You Ready?

on Saturday, March 10, 2007

Like many trends for 2007 high definition monitors look like to take off the back of Vista launch, and it could be a bumper year for display manufacturers.Although large 1,680 x 1,050 resolution screens have been around for a while and are increasingly affordable, many of them will be useless when it comes to playing the next generation of films and TV show from HD,DVD and Blue Ray disc on Vista, cause they don't include a new Digital Rights Management system built into new OS.Intel's HDCP ( High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection ) is designed to ensure HD video is encrypted at every stage of transmission ,from disc through graphics card and monitor.

So,if you are planning to buy a HD monitor, make sure it has the magical compliance, otherwise , images could be stripped back to DVD quality or worse.Vista will spark another display trend too, with the idea that bigger is better. With monitor manufacturers already rushing to squeeze TV tuners into their hot cake 22in screens,Microsoft recently announced it would brand a 22in display made by Samsung: a large widescreen is the ideal environment for making the most of Vista's graphics Microsoft.

The Hybrid Phones

on Thursday, March 08, 2007

The days of three phones, mobile, landline and internet, may be be numbered , as 2007 will witness more handsets that function across all these diverse environments.

The idea is simple: at home, you use the handset to make call across the internet, driving down bills.Step out of the house and the handset switches to your mobile operator network. The big different is that when you enter a wireless hotspot - slowly gaining a large footprint, especially in London for example, the phone revert to a Wi Fi signal to allow internet calls once more. The latter option could provide massive savings for companies, especially those whose executive operation mainly in large city.

Skype and The Cloud already have a mobile service up and running, although it does not include a traditional mobile network to fall back on when out of hotspot range, while both Orange and BT ( the name of communication company) offer Wi Fi in the home and mobile on the move. The biggest stumbling block is persuading wary mobile operators to join the party and fill in the gaps between hotsport .Nokia is backing the UMA ( unlicensed mobile access) bandwagon with the 6136 ( picture left side) a mobile phone with built in Wi Fi.

BBC iPlayers,New Tech 2007

on Tuesday, March 06, 2007

The BBC plans to provide downloads of its programming during 2007, promising a see change in the way we watch television. Its iPlayer is part of a bigger picture ( also featuring deals with Microsoft ) aimed at making the public broadcasters content more accessible and relevant.

Accoding to the Beeb's director of new media and technology, Ashley Highfield " the iPlayer will offer you cath up television on your computer,up to seven days after tranmission. You will be able to download any program from the eight BBC channels and then watch it on your PC and,we hope, move it across to your TV set or down to your mobile phone,to wacth it when you want".

The move will alarm ISPs,which will have to handle the extra traffic and subscribers will have to keep an ever closer eye on their download caps.Trials and a Public Value Test are under way to assess the benefits to licence fee payers.

The basic of iPlayers features:

  • The oddly-named BBC IMP (Interactive Media Player) is a test system designed to allow you to watch BBC television programs and listen to BBC radio programs after they have been broadcast
  • When you run the program, you see a five-tabbed display. The first, called home highlights the new and favourite content.

  • The second tab, Guide, allows you to search the listing for programs to watch. This is really a Microsoft Internet Explorer window. From here you can find all the programs that the iMP can deliver to you.

  • A third tab, Search, allows you to use free-form text searches (Google-style) to search for programs to download.

  • Tab four, My Downloads, provide the facility for reviewing, cancelling, deleting or watching the programs you have downloaded

  • The content has been specially modified for IMP. This includes on-screen branding

  • And also a DOG in the corner of each program. You can also use a special hidden monitor screen to monitor downloads and uploads your computer is making

BENQ Siemens E61

on Monday, March 05, 2007

Fantastic battery life reasonable features.Wish it came in at more competitive price point

There is only so much left to be done with a candy bar design, right? Not exactly,as Benq Siemens demonstrated with its E61.It even won the Reddot Design Award 2006,so there.
The E61 is a no frills phone,it can make receive calls and does what most mobile phones do,but with a few tricks up its sleeve battery life, and MP3 capability come immediately to mind.

To ensure the E61 fulfils is alter ego role as a portable digital audio device, the E61 comes with a miniSD slot and dedicated player buttons mounted at the top of the phone. However, having everything mounted at the top half of the phone dedicated media playback buttons, external memory slot and SIM SLOT has necessited a thicker upper portion for the E61. It may look slightly odd at first, but hold it in your hand and it its very comfortable into the profile of the palm.

It battery life is one of the better one of the current lot, returning a standby time of 87 hours after 34 minutes of talktime and 37 SMS. Most settings were left at default levels, but I turned off the keypad sounds and bumped ring volume to its max. Taking into consideration itchy hands ( not mine! ) fiddling with battery juice suckers like the camera and its MP3 capabilities three and a half days of standby is not bad at all.

As a basic phone, dont expect anything more than 640 x 480 resolution from the E61 camera. It does not even have a LED,let alone flash,so forget about low light photography .

In everyday applications, the E61 is very user friendly, each key is slanted upwards for easier navigation and key presses are rewarded by solid clicks. The 16 bit 128 x 160 display is bright enough under most conditions , but gets a little tricky under bright and direct sunlight.Reception is generally good while earpiece volume is fantastic, I had to reduce the volume to protect my hearing. The E61 comes with USB connectivity but that is as far as connectivity goes,as it does not have Bluetooth nor infrared capabilities. This would have been well and good with user looking for an entry level phone, but the price point, the justification is somewhat muddled. It does however have dedicated digital audio capabilities and expandable memory on its side, which is quite a plus hence in reality it up to you to judge the phone that you want and what you are willing to pay for it. Ok guys I really hope you enjoy with my blog.. bye..

HP iPAQ rw6800 Personal Messenger

on Thursday, March 01, 2007

I love the battery life, speedy performance and bright screen, but miss the keyboard of Mobile Messengers

HP took its first steps into the smartphone market with the hw6500 Mobile Messenger, but the Personal Messenger series is distinct in to way: it is more targeted at consumers and does not included a keyboard.

The rw6800 feels more like a generic smartphone than a sophisticated piece of hand crafted hardware.in particular, the silver plastic finish veers towards tacky in place and it is thick at 19mm.This thickness is partly due to a big battery, with a 1,530Ah removable unit inside. That led to some decent scores in our real life battery life test, lasting for around four days between recharges despite some heavy use - HP claims a talk time of five and a half hour and standby of ten days.Another boon is that unlike previous iPAQs,this one can recharge via the standard mini USB port.

It is also fast.A 416MHz processor means Windows Mobile 5 speeds along and whatever task we were performing we could not complain about the iPAQs responsiveness. The screen is similarly impressive, with 240 x 320 pixels and a bright backlight. The flip up cover is another plus,as it means you can shove the iPAQ into a pocket without worrying about scratches.

All this make the iPAQ an excellent device for viewing email. The trouble is started missing the keyboard of Mobile Messengers.Even sending a text becomes a bind when you have to use the mini on screen keyboard or character recognition.

Fortunately,Bluetooth is available for hooking up the optional HP iPAQ BT Foldable Keyboard ( part code FA802AA),headphones or virtually any other peripheral, while Wi Fi is another excellent inclusion. The lack of 3G is drawback but at least EDGE and GPRS are on hand

There is a lot to like here, there's even a decent 2 megapixel camera which takes great picture in good lighting but without an easy way to input information,it falls short a Recommended award.
